God is my CEO

Today, I found myself in a series of fortunate events.

It may have been chance but the timing required and the odds to beat for luck to occur is just too hard to ignore. I believe that luck, its antithesis and serendipities are all the work of the hands of God.

It may have been a matter of choice. But then again, the series of choices we make--sometimes no matter how mundane and meaningless they are, lead us to a great masterplan, which is that of God's.

God is the CEO of the whole wide universe. Just like every CEO in the corporate world, He has a vision for humankind. And it is in this vision that we align our own mission in life. We have to share in God's plan for us to be able to feel the fullness of life.

(I remember Marcelo, my theo teacher at Ateneo, give the best explanation of why freewill exists even with God's plan around.)

I know I'm never the best person to talk about God. At times, I feel so unworthy. But I love him. I tell you, my dear readers, that it is by these series of events--fortunate or not, that I have found God and learned to love him.

That's why when Budd Davidson said that "to be in the right place at the right time is a spiritual experience,"

I couldn't agree any less.

My ever favorite depiction of God in a movie is that in the movie Bruce Almighty. God as a powerful middle-aged black man in a white suit. Yes, it is very unconventional. But I love it. And I love the contrast of his white suit on his skin. There is just something about that contrast that says He's both human and divine; that He's both a laborer of love and a CEO of mankind.

  4. Got here from blogrush... I like the representation of God in the movie. He transcends race, skin color ... etc

Indeed there are some times when luck does not come to mind as a contributing factor to some events. One only thinks of the Infinite One playing a role in us finite beings.

    Great post!

  6. Hi Bennett! Same here. It's one of the reasons why I like the movie. Remember the line from Joan Osborne's song One of Us?

"If God had a face, what would it look like...?"

    Makes me wonder, really.
